Technical Writer
Job Description:
Role:
The Technical Writer will be the main person responsible for researching and writing content that will be the source material for marketing and sales collateral and proposals. S/he will lead the marketing group’s efforts in meeting SGH’s high standards for quality of published materials (hard copy and electronic).
Job Responsibilities:
•Develop long-form project profiles that will be used, in part or entirely, in other marketing materials such as collateral, articles and interviews, proposals, award submissions, etc.
•Work with the team to define templates for written content, and implement templates throughout program.
•Plan and execute the process of developing primary written content that describes SGH’s projects and capabilities.
•Plan and execute the process of reviewing, prioritizing, and editing existing written content to meet updated templates and guidelines.
•Lead the marketing team to achieve SGH’s high standards for editorial quality and comply with SGH’s style manual.
•Being a resource for the marketing team on standards and writing policies including proofreading for spelling, grammar, and readability.
•Become functional with other aspects of the SGH Marketing program and provide support to the marketing team and all SGH offices and practice areas.
Job Requirements :
The ideal candidate will have the following attributes:
•Significant experience researching and writing clear and concise English language documents.
•Proficient in proofreading documents for grammar, usage, and style (based on Strunk & White, Chicago Manual of Style, SGH guidelines).
•Strong interpersonal, communication, time management, and teamwork skills.
• Proven ability to plan and implement a long-term program to develop a “library” of written content and proactively gather information from engineers, technical staff, and senior managers.
•Candidates should have a BA/BS in English and five/seven years experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Word, etc.) and knowledge of InDesign is desired. Must be able to meet critical deadlines with attention to detail.
